What is the rental fee for Smokey Hollow and what does it include?

What is the building capacity?
  • 288 seated guests including the bridal party

Is there a deposit?  When are the additional payments due? Do you offer a payment plan?
  • Yes.  When the contract is signed, to continue holding the date, we require a 50% deposit. 30 days prior to the event the remaining 50% of the remaining fee will be due.   You are welcome to send smaller, partial payments of any amount prior to the specified due date, so in effect creating your own payment plan on your own schedule.  Full payment is due by the specified due date.  We also reserve the right to request a credit card on file for any damages to the facility or grounds.

How do I reserve a date?​
  • To reserve a date by email smokeyhollowde@gmail.com saying you are ready to book your perfected date .and include a backup date in case your preferred date is unavailable.

Do I need to schedule a tour or can I just stop by?
  • We kindly request that all tours are by appointment only. You can request a tour here.

Do we have to utilize your caterers and bar service?​
  • We will provide you with a list of licensed caterers that we recommend.  How ever you are welcome to bring your own.  They must be licensed and insured with proof of insurance and a day of liability naming Venue LLC., Smokey Hollow and  Barefoot Beach Bride.

Delaware law states no one is allowed to bring alcohol into the venue.  Alcohol must be provided and served by a license cater with an off prism alcohol license.  NO EXCEPTIONS. 

Will there be another wedding the same day?
  • At Smokey Hollow we only host one wedding each day to ensure that each couple’s event is special and receives our full attention.

Are there overnight accommodations nearby?
  • Yes.  The Bethany Suites, Bethany Holiday Inn Express and many Hotels in Ocean  City MD is less than 15 miles away and offers bulk room rates. The hotel is utilized for large events, so we encourage you to set up your room block soon. 

How many cars will your parking lot accommodate?
  • 200 cars. 

Do you provided table linens, cups, silverware, etc? 
  • Yes. Smokey Hollow provides an awesome venue, 60′  square folding tables, chavaeri chairs, and lots of decor for the allotted amount of time.  Linens can be rented through us, but are NOT included in the rental fee. You are also welcome to bring your own linens.  For details regarding our linen package please click here.

What happens in case of rain?
  • The ceremony/ cocktail hour will be moved inside.  A floor plan will be pre-designed in the case of inclement weather. 

We plan to have our ceremony offsite, or only plan to have our ceremony at Smokey Hollow.  Does your fee change?
  • Because we only host one event per day, our fee structure remains the same whether you hold your ceremony, reception, or both onsite.

Do you allow dogs onsite to play a part in our wedding day?
  • We are dog friendly, with some specific stipulations. Dogs are allowed (only with pre-approval by Mark and Karen) at the ceremony and pictures. Animals, other than service animals, are NOT allowed under roof or near food. Dogs must be on a leash and someone must be responsible for them other than the bride and groom.

What form of payment does Smokey Hollow accept?
  • Our preferred form of payment is all major credit cards with a 3% handling fee, check or money order.

 Where can I find pictures of the decor available?
  • We have it all photographed and numbered on our inventory page.

What time will I have access to the venue to decorate?
  • You will have access to the venue at the time listed on your contract, not earlier. Please plan accordingly!

Do you include a “wedding day coordinator?”
  • No. We do have a list of Highly recommended wedding coordinators that work with Smokey Hollow.  We welcome all coordinators to Smokey Hollow, should you have one that is not on the list. 

What are our catering options at Smokey Hollow?
  • Must be licensed and insured caters.  Smokey Hollow will provide you with a list of recommend caters once you have booked your event. 

Can we provide our own Alcohol? 
  • NO you many not provide your own alcohol.   Delaware law states no one is allowed to bring alcohol into the venue.  Alcohol must be provided and served by a license cater with an off prism alcohol license. They  must provide us with a copy of licensed and  proof of insurance and a day of liability naming Venue LLC., Smokey Hollow and  Barefoot Beach Bride. NO EXCEPTIONS. 
What time do you suggest we start the ceremony?
  • We suggest starting weddings at 4:00.  You are allotted 5-hour for your reception to include cocktail hour. Lights must be on with bars closed and guest leaving by 10.PM per Delaware State Licensing for this venue.

  • Alcohol can not be provided after 5-hour

How will the tables, chairs, etc. be arranged for my sized event? 
  • Click here to download the suggested Smokey Hollow table layout PDF. We will reach out to you to determine your preferred layout prior to the big day!

If we choose the one day option, will we be able to access the location early to rehearse our ceremony? 
  • If you elect the one day rental, our venue will likely be reserved by another couple the night before. For that reason, one day rentals should plan for an offsite rehearsal or earlier in the week . You are also welcome to schedule a time prior to tour the venue (such as your wedding planner, DJ or minister, or any little ones in the wedding party).

Can we have fireworks on the property?
  • Fireworks are not permitted with out pre-approval from the property owners Mark and Karen. This includes sparklers.  

Can vehicles be left overnight?
  • Vehicles can be left overnight.  Must be removed by 9 a.m the following morning. No one is permitted near the main house. 
What time does the music need to end?
  • Music on Friday’s/Saturday’s must conclude by 10:00 p.m. to ensure that you, all of your items, and all of your vendors are off-property by 11 p.m. Music on Sunday’s must conclude by 9:30 p.m. to be off property by 10:00 pm. 

We are using a rental company.  Can they drop items off or pick them up outside of the rental period? 
  • All items are to be dropped off the day of your rental, due to the fact the venue will be rented the day before.

Can we get married somewhere else on the property other than the Pond or next to the barn?
  • One of the great things about Smokey Hollow is the views. You may pick any spot from the pond to the barn. 

Are candles allowed?
  • Yes, candles are allowed as long as the flame is completely contained in a candle holder.  Tapered candles and any type of hanging candles will not be allowed for safety reasons. 

How many guest can we set per table?
  • The 60′ square folding table will allow for up to 12 guest per table. 

How far in advance do you need our final headcount?
  • Three weeks

Setup and Day-of Event Questions 

What is the event clean-up process?
  • Smokey Hollow will handle all standard clean up. You and the caters are responsible for trash removal throughout and following the wedding reception. 

Can we take photos around the property on our wedding day?
  • You are permitted to take pictures from the pond to the barn unless you have rented the estate or the premium rental package..

Can we nail decorations to the walls or hang things like streamers or lanterns from the beams?
  • The beams at Smokey Hollow are very tall and not reachable by a ladder.  For this reason, we do not allow for anything to be hung from the beams.  We hope that you will find them beautiful without any extra work! No nails, tacks or holes can be put into any surface of the interior or exterior of the barn
